General Rules/Guidelines for Students

All students should be proud of Shivalik Public School and make efforts to uphold its name and prestige. They should get involved in all its activities and make the best use of their time at the school. Remember the following:

  • ⦿ Come to the school clean, well-groomed and in proper uniform with polished shoes.
  • ⦿ Remain regular attendance and never be late for the School.
  • ⦿ Bring all the text books and the writing materials required for the day.
  • ⦿ Keep your class room clean; throw waste paper (s) into the waste paper baskets (WPB) only.
  • ⦿ Study diligently and attentively in the class room, never waste your time while at School.
  • ⦿ Ensure that your name, class, subject etc. are marked on your books, exercise books, Tiffin box, water bottle etc.
  • ⦿ Look after the School property: help to keep it clean and avoid all pencil/ink marks on the walls and furniture. Any loss or damage caused to the School property shall have to be made good by the students responsible for it.
  • ⦿ The students are advised not to bring valuables; expensive watches and gold ornaments to School.
  • ⦿ It is compulsory for the students to appear in all the exams through out the year.
  • ⦿ All students must try to speak in English within the school premises and even at home.
  • ⦿ Chewing gum is strictly banned in the school campus and school buses for children of all ages.
  • ⦿ There should be no vulgarity and obscenity in their talk and behaviour. They should know that cruelty is the trait of a bully, while kindness is the hallmark of a gentleman.
  • ⦿ They should not accept undue favour from any stranger either in form of a gift or a ride on their vehicle. They should never hesitate to say ‘No’ when asked or tempted to do anything which they know to be wrong.
  • ⦿ The School uniform must be worn on all working days and during all school functions and education trips .
  • ⦿ Students are not permitted to bring mobile phones to school. Strict action will be taken against any child found in possession of a mobile phone.
  • ⦿ Irregular attendance, habitual idleness, disobedience, conduct injurious to the moral tone of the school is sufficient reasons for dismissal of the students at any time of the year. One whose misconduct is liable to the injurious to others may be dismissed.
  • ⦿ The Principal may suspend attendance or require the withdrawal of any pupil without having to assign any reason; provided he is satisfied that such a step is necessary in the interest of the school.
  • ⦿ The school diary is a record concerning the student. Therefore, every student should take special care of the Diary and bring it to school daily.
  • ⦿ Any misbehavior of a serious nature that has become public knowledge is liable to bring about suspension or dismissal, even though it may have taken place off the school premises.
  • ⦿ No magazines, comics, papers, books or printed matter other than school text books and the School Diary may be brought to the school without the permission of the Principal.
  • ⦿ No buying/selling of the items, Stickers, Comics, books etc is allowed in the school. Such items as supari, chewing gum etc. are strictly forbidden in the school and stern measures will be taken against offenders in this regard. Fancy items such as electronic gadgets (fancy watches, toys, digital diaries, cell phones, cameras, walkman, CD, Cassettes etc.) are not permitted in the school. Stylish haircuts and/or hairstyles are not permitted.
  • ⦿ Students and parents are required to treat the school authority, teachers and all members of the staff, teaching and non-teaching, with respect and politeness.
  • ⦿ Students shall show gentleness and courtesy to their companions. Refinement of manners, uprightness and self restraint should be the distinguishing marks of our pupils. On their way to any from school, they are expected to behave in a sociably acceptable manner giving thereby due honour to the name of the school.
  • ⦿ The school reserves the right to restrict entry to its premises any one without proper identity recognized by the school authority.

Guidelines For Parents

The School will not achieve its objective of imparting quality education unless the parents extend their unreserved co-operation. The early years of the child are the most formative ones and co-operative efforts of both the teachers and the parents can help children to cultivate healthy habits and disciplined attitude to life.

Parents are requested to help their children in doing small things at home and this will enable them to learn at school without fear or tears.

  • ⦿ Help the child to bring the required books and exercise books daily to the school. These should be properly covered with school cover, with the name, class and subject with a pen.
  • ⦿ Check the child’s School Almanac and take the Notes/Remarks of the teachers seriously. Unattended notes of the teachers not only discourage them but also make your child careless and unmindful of the school as well as Home discipline. Each such note of the teacher must be signed and proper action taken thereof willingly.
  • ⦿ Encourage the child to talk to you in English.
  • ⦿ Help the child to come to School in proper uniform. Make sure that his/her shoes are properly polished.
  • ⦿ In case the child has to take leave from the School, send an application well in time.
  • ⦿ Teach the child good etiquettes and manners.
  • ⦿ Teach the child the sense of responsibility by giving him/her some responsibility at home.
  • ⦿ If you have any serious problem with your child at home, come to us.
  • ⦿ Make it a habit to take the child out with all other members of the family at least once in a month.
  • ⦿ Feel the school as yours and any problem concerning education of your child must be brought to the notice of the class teacher/Principal without hesitation.
  • ⦿ Always take note of the PTMs of the school and find time to attend them.
  • ⦿ Parents must not go to the class rooms to see the child for handing over anything. Such things should be left with the gate peon who will take it to the concerned child through reception office.
  • ⦿ Parents please ensure that all articles and personal belongings of the child bear his/her name, class, section etc. The School will not be responsible for unmarked articles claimed by a wrong person. Also if lost articles are not claimed within a week, the School will not be responsible for them.
  • ⦿ A minimum advance notice of 48 hours in the form of a written application to the office is imperative for issuing any certificate. Such certificates are, however, issued only during the working hours on week days after verifying the clearance of all dues.
  • ⦿ Parents are requested not to give any money to the peons/drivers. If in emergency this has to be resorted to, please insist receipt from the class teacher through the school diary.
  • ⦿ Private tuition by the school teachers are discouraged. Parents are requested not to approach them for this purpose.
  • ⦿ Please do not insist on taking your child form school during school hours.
  • ⦿ In emergency only the child will be allowed to go home when requested by the parents.
  • ⦿ Students suffering form infectious diseases are not allowed to attend the classes till they get well.
  • ⦿ Medical certificate should be submitted in case of long leave.
  • ⦿ Parents are not allowed to meet teachers during school hour.
  • ⦿ Parents should sign the Almanac daily to keep abreast of the day to day progress of the child.
  • ⦿ Any abnormal tendency noted in a student at home may also be brought to the notice of the school authorities.
  • ⦿ The School will not be responsible for any serious mishap/casualty which may take place by chance, although every care will be taken by the school authorities to prevent such mishap.
  • ⦿ The school reserves the right to take decision with regard to emergency medical situation including surgery when the consent of the parents/guardian can not be obtained in time.
  • ⦿ In case for any reason, as student after joining, leaves the school on his own within fifteen days, then 50% of the Annual Charges will be deducted. For students leaving thereafter, no refund shall be made.
  • ⦿ Please ensure to inform the school if there is any change in your address or telephone numbers.
  • ⦿ Please do not overtake or stop the school van/bus to facilitate the boarding of your ware, as it dangers the safety of the children.
  • ⦿ Please do not get into an argument with the teacher, conductor or driver present in the van/bus. In case of a problem, please write a complaint to the school office.
  • ⦿ Please avoid criticizing the school or teacher in the presence of child. This can result in the student losing respect for their teachers.
  • ⦿ The School reserves to itself the right to expel any student whose diligence or progress in studies is continuously unsatisfactory or whose conduct is harmful to the other students.
  • ⦿ Enrollment in the school implies, on the part of the parents and students, willingness, to comply with the requirements and regulations of the school.
  • ⦿ Parents shall notify the school authority whenever there is a change in their address or telephone numbers, as recorded in the Identity Certificates in the school library.
